Universal Product Codes, (UPC) barcodes, are quintessential to food packaging.  Data acquired from barcode readers is the greatest necessary source of information utilized to conduct our commercial affairs.  The barcode’s historical “data-in-data-out” paradigm will now evolve into a transinformative archival, global mechanism by utilization of proprietary thermochromic printing ink, printed in a non-scannable color that emerges to a scannable, deep magenta when activated.  It is therefore capable of adding a temperature and shelf-life monitor to any other barcode thus preventing the sale of contaminated food and archiving the incident.
