The Food Sentinel System™ (FSS) is an archiving globally compatible, transinformative (auto-data modification), food safety track & trace monitor designed for utilization in the entrenched worldwide barcode data collection infrastructure. It is a 1-5 penny, intelligent system composed of an exclusive, hyper-advanced, irreversible when activated (IWA) thermochromic ink and one standard formatted barcode. The FSS is compatible with all other relevant scannable printed data collection symbols utilized in today’s business, or published as scheduled for introduction in the foreseeable future (e.g. Reduced Space Symbology).  In essence, when the FSS is conjoined with any germane tracking symbology, that symbology will automatically evolve into an FSS when thermal conditions indicative of contamination become apparent. The thermochromic ink remains environmentally stable high above print room, transport or storage temperatures and, as well, on packages in a retort phase of production.  The FSS is chemically organized to evolve into an irreversible, active, low-temperature threshold thermal monitor, whether it arrives at point of use pre-activated or manufactured to only activate within the cold chain, either in a label format or on tracking symbology printed directly on packaging.
